TGT 019: The Meta Episode

In this episode we go meta.  We start out talking about the podcast in meta ways (you’ll even learn our last names).  We’ll then go into a short off topic and talk about our game of the day, “Pandemic: Reign of Cthulhu.”  Then we go on topic and tall about meta gaming in your board games and how that can cross over into cheating.

Our next episode will be a questions from the listeners episode.  Send us your questions and we’ll answer as many as we can.

SeaFall is a the third in the “Legacy” line of games designed by Rob Daviau.  This follows Risk Legacy and Pandemic Legacy in his series.  SeaFall reveals a world of high sea adventure over 15-20 games.  Most everything you do will have an effect of some sort on the next game.  Will you gain enough glory to rule the seas?

Avalon – Retail  $19.95

Based on the game Resistance, Avalon adds some additional rulls and rules variants.  plays 5-10 players and is a social deduction game.  Can you figure out who the bad guys (red team) are before they are able to fail 3 of the 5 missions?  But even if you’re able to, if they can figure out who Merlin is (who knows all the bad guys), they win anyway!  Yikes!  Lot’s of fun.

The Duke – Retail $39.95

The Duke is a game by Catalyst Game.  It’s a two player game where each player will draw tiles from a bag.  Each tile has a different movement and attack pattern on it.  The twist…When you activate one of these tiles, it flips to reveal a different pattern.  Can you capture your opponent’s duke before they capture yours?

Pendemic (signed by all the hosts of the show) – Retail $39.95

Pandemic is the quintessential co-op game.  This copy is the copy we played our first game of Pandemic with.  The goal, cure 4 diseases before any one of them grows out of control.  Amazing game that promotes team work and corporation.
