TGT 073: Analysis Paralysis

This week we sloooooow things down and really take a deep look at analysis paralysis and how we can better understand AP players and make games more enjoyable for both sides.

But before we get to that, we get a lot of feedback from our last show and hear about some of our listener’s favorite games of 2017.  We also talk about EverCon and get in a quick question about why Tom Vasel hates miniatures (spoiler alert, he doesn’t).

  1. I was glad you covered this topic, and were able to be so frank and understanding about it. I really have trouble not “gaming it up”, as well. I’m not always considered the AP guy (it doesn’t always take long… sometimes it does), but I’m the “overthinking it” guy.

For my part, I’m working on immersing myself more in the theme (a little hard, given my penchant for Euro games), and getting excited about other people’s successes and opportunities. The latter just keeps me from caring so much about playing well that I over think it or seem overly competitive. The only problem is that sometimes I really do need every second of another person’s turn to think about my upcoming turn, or else I will grind to a halt. But, it’s helping. My friends are having more fun and are less inclined to rush me or to ask half-seriously “are you even having fun??”….
