TGT 084: Miniatures Games

This week we talk about miniatures games, or at least what they are and why we like or may not like them.  We don’t have a lot of feedback this week, but we do have a quick question on game expansions and when you should add them to your game.

The euro game link Chris mentioned: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1963231/not-playing-eurogames-because-they-are-10-years-ol

But first, announcements, Kickstarters, and some Feedback.  Our D&D bundle giveaway continues with a  way to get bonus entries here: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1940127/inputfeedback-ep-79-10×10-challenge

  1. Hey gang,
So minature games… my 2 cents. I got/get into many of them mainly because of the hobbie aspect of them. While I do suffer a bit of the shiny syndrome, want it because it looks cool, being an artist I still enjoy the act of building and painting minatures. I really don’t think about the actual game around them. Being a buyer of Games Workshop products many years ago, I agree it can be hard to jump into a more complex big minis game. I only ever played Warhammer a few times because I could never find anyone on my beginner level to make the game enjoyable. Or players in other games took it to serious or were too competitive to keep the game fun so I left the game behind which I did with X-Wing. I do like the skirmish size mini games as the have less of a barrier to get into and take less of your time wether its the hobbie side or the playing side, such as Gaslands or Wild West Exodus. The best way to get into any minature game I think, is to have a willing freind or partner that you can learn it with. My son and Girlfriend are great for that!😉
