Category Archives: Weekly Show

Our main weekly show.

TGT 151 On Topic: Off Topic?

We’ve run out of topic!  Not really, but this is a grab bag of an episode none-the-less.  Fireworks, babies, weddings, and of course we do talk about some games and feedback.  Don’t worry, we’ll be back to a normal episode next week… probably.

One last thing – you may notice this was published earlier than normal.  We’ve been having some issues with our auto publisher, so we figured it’s better to be early than to be late when the auto publisher fails.

TGT 150 On Topic: Our Top 10 Games

Today we’re doing our first top 10 list.  Well, three of them really.  There are no rules to the list, just that there are 10 games on it.  We don’t want to spoil the list here.  But we also know that it’s handy to have a written reference, so we’ll spoil the list below the the links.  In other words, don’t scroll down until after you’ve listened to the show!

TGT 149 On Topic: Competitive Gaming

Today we’re talking about being super competitive and the games that encourage this level of competitiveness.  We’ve all seen these types of players, or maybe know them, or maybe are them… The players that must win.  The “If you’re not first, you’ve lost” kind of players.  So, we’re going to talk about competitiveness in gaming.

TGT 148 On Topic: Vacation Games

Today we’re talking about vacation games. These could be games we bring with us or games we find sitting on the shelf of our AirBnB or in the closet of grandma’s house. What makes games good, or awful choices for this situation?

TGT 147 On Topic: Huge Games

Today we’re talking about those games that take up a LOT of space. Sometimes that means space on the table, but it often means multiple boxes, or over sized boxes, or dozens or hundreds of miniatures. These are the games that are a challenge to store and likely a bigger challenge to get a chance to play. So today, we’re talking about what attracts us to, or repels us from these games.

TGT 146 On Topic: The Game Crafter (dot) Com

This week we talk about TheGameCrafter.com.  This is a site that lets you make and print games, but it also has a lot of other cool features that even game designers may want to use.  We talk all about it.  Trust us, everyone should listen to this one… Email us at feedback@TabletopGameTalk.com – for questions and feedback. TGT 145 On Topic: Designing Games

This week we talk about designing games.  Or more accurately, amateurs trying to design games.  There is a lot of cross over between video games and tabletop games, so we talk about a bit of that too. And Chris’s Tiny Town Play Along is here: https://youtu.be/_DgDJh2-rxQ   Email us at feedback@TabletopGameTalk.com – for questions and feedback. TGT 144 On Topic: Best Two Player Games

Today we’re talking about an article on nymag.com title “The Best Two-Player Board Games, According to Experts” How well did they do? What experts? we were never asked. So what changes or additions would we make? Article link: http://nymag.com/strategist/article/best-two-player-board-games.html And Chris’s Tiny Town Play Along is here: https://youtu.be/_DgDJh2-rxQ   Email us at feedback@TabletopGameTalk.com – for questions and feedback. TGT 143 On Topic: Playing Games Again

Today we’re talking about playing games more than once. Is this a cult of the old vs a cult of the new discussion?  Hopefully not. Really what we want to do is look at the pros and cons of playing the same game many times. Are there really cons? Probably, maybe? Oh, and there may have been a slight internet glitch Chris just left in there… Email us at feedback@TabletopGameTalk.com – for questions and feedback. TGT 142 On Topic: Playing Games Against Yourself

Today we’re talking about playing games solo. NOT playing solo games, that’s completely different. What we’re talking about is playing a non-solo game by yourself taking on multiple player positions. From teaching yourself a new game to trying out different strategies against yourself, we’ll talk about some of the reasons you may want to do this. We’ll also take a look at what types of games are most easily played in this way. Email us at feedback@TabletopGameTalk.com – for questions and feedback. TGT 141 On Topic: Board Game Media

Today we’re talking about board game media. Turns out, between podcasts and youtube, there is a lot of media created around board games. Today we’re going to talk about some that we like as well as some you’ve told us you like. And we’ll even talk a bit about why we’ve added our voices to all the other media out there.
